Glenwood Village Hall and Police Station, Glenwood Illinois View from Town Square
This Centralized Village Government Complex Commission, for a small suburb of Chicago, was won in International Architectural Competition. The Complex houses all Village Government Offices, as well as a large Meeting Hall/Council Chamber, and other informal meeting rooms. The Police Station is a state-of-the-art facility, incorporating a secure lock-up, as well as sally-port access. The Buildings address a newly designed Town Square at the public street front and define a park-like space, which includes an amphitheater at the rear. The Buildings seek to project a sense of firmly rooted landmark, defining the Town Center, important in the generally undifferentiated prairie landscape characteristic of Chicago and its suburbs. |
